3 Pros Basement Systems Case Studies: Basement Waterproofing in Oakton, VA

Tuesday, May 5th, 2020 by Shayne Sandner

Challenge

This waterproofing project of a basement in Oakton, VA required the installation of 'weep holes' in the cinderblock foundation. When cinderblocks, or concrete masonry units (CMUs), are stacked to support a structure, the hollow cores of each block create vertical columns that run up and down through the concrete wall. The weep holes allow the water to drain from these vertical tunnels.

Solution

Weep holes were drilled into the hollow cores of the cinderblocks. Concrete restoration was then performed on the foundation of the basement and a new sump pump was installed. Attention to detail leads to great results!
