Crawl Space Repair Case Studies: Encapsulating a Dirt Floor Crawl Space

Challenge

This homeowner in Winchester, VA noticed high humidity and unpleasant smells in the rooms above the crawl space. These symptoms typically indicate that there are wet conditions in the crawl space, causing the insulation to stop working due to being soggy with water and causing prolific mold growth.

Solution

The solution was to install an exterior drainage line that would route water away from the foundation of the home to such a distance that would guarantee it would not reenter.
